The Multi-Vitamin Shake

Multi Vitamin Shake

MultiVitaminShakeHorizontal_Web

I’m trying something new.  I’ve recorded an MP3 of instructions on how to make the Multi-Vitamin shake.  Call it a little experiment, call it the wave of the future, but I intend to record a lot more of these for future recipes.  Maybe I should put them up as a podcast?  Maybe I should stop putting carts before horses and see if you guys like this addition to the recipe format.

Promise me no one is gonna go crazy restrictive just because they over did it for the holidays.  Eating healthy is about finding balance and eating beautiful whole foods, not self-flagellation or restriction.  This shake is green and refreshing, so drink up and have a kick-ass 2015!

  • I thought the audio instructions were great! I love hearing the nuances & possible spicy additions of a recipe.
Now I just have to fix my Vitamix..- I think the bearing under the blade is worn out, or was damaged somehow. Lame!

Take all that and add 1/2-1cup of full fat plain Greek yogurt or an avocado and you got a nice fat shake. I would maybe skip the lemon juice or at least add just enough for taste.

    • Totally with adding the fat! Surprisingly, you don’t taste the lemon juice too much, but it does add some brightness to the bitterness of the greens. Thanks, ngyoung, for stopping by!

  • This is what is missing from every recipe I’ve ever read! LOVE the commentary – makes it less intimidating to try something new. I would love to see more of these!

  • Any suggestions for a celery substitute? Celery is disgusting IMO.

    Thanks.

    • Keith–celery is not my favorite either. That’s why I call this “drinking your vitamins” and not “nectar of the Gods” HAHA! You could replace any of these ingredients with any green veg that you do like–experiment, I say!!

  • I leave out the apple and drink this often

Very similar to the one i make a couple times a week, only difference is i use a pear instead of apple, so i avoid that little foam caused by the high insoluble fibers content in the apple (much less in pears), also i avoid the lettuce because i prefer to eat lettuce by itself in a nice salad with extra virgin olive oil salt and vinegar (im Italian so it’s the classic Italian dressing).
Some times i switch spinach with kale.
The ginger is very important to cover that “grassy” taste from all the greens.

Love this shake! I use coconut water instead of regular water.
