With sugar in practically all the store-bought sauces, and this recipe so easy to make, why not complete the pizza post trifecta by offering up a homemade sauce. This is a variation on my marinara sauce I’ve been making for years. Put it on your Fathead or Cauliflower crust!
- 1 14oz can of chopped tomatoes, check for no sugar on the label!
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, minced (or ½ teaspoon minced garlic)
- 5 basil leaves, chopped
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 pat of butter
- Salt and pepper
- Pulse canned tomatoes in food processor or Vitamix to make smooth. In saucepan on medium high heat, sautee garlic and basil in olive oil until soft, about 3 minutes. Add pureed tomatoes and tomato paste, stirring until blended. Lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in pat of butter and salt & pepper for seasoning. Cook additional 5 minutes. Season again to taste and then use on your pizza.
